So, now I've watched *pretty much* all of the nominated films, here are the films I want to win, and the ones I think actually will...
Best Picture - American Hustle
Now, I would really really really like Wolf of Wall Street to win this. I think the film has fantastic pace, and achieves the near-impossible by keeping the audience completely entertained for over 3 hours. Some of the scenes are so hilarious that they made me cry. Really.
However, I think that it's going to be a close call between 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle, and (perhaps unfortunately) I think the later will just about inch it.
Best Actor in a Leading Role - Chiwetel Ejifor
Sorry Leo, but whilst your laugh-a-minute antics were fun, I'm just not sure they're good enough to beat Chiwetel's emotional heavyweight of a performance.
I'd love Matthew McConaughey to win this, but I just don't think he will. A shame really.
Best Actress in a Leading Role - Sandra Bullock
I'll be bloody fuming if Cate Blanchett wins this, because I thought Blue Jasmine was awful. And I don't think Amy Adams gave enough in American Hustle to deserve it. Sandra, on the other hand, went through a huge amount for Gravity, and managed to keep audiences captivated almost entirely by herself (the help of the brilliant visuals cannot be ignored, of course).
Best Actor in Supporting Role - Jared Leto
Jared was fantastic. A class above the rest. Bradley Cooper comes in second, but in my opinion it's a huge gap.
Best Actress in Supporting Role - Jennifer Lawrence
Because everyone loves J-Law. And her character literally made American Hustle. A shame for for Lupita Nyong'o, who put on a fantastic performance, but probably just doesn't have the personal clout to carry her through.
Best Cinematography - Inside Llewyn Davis
Best Costume Design - American Hustle
Best Director - Steve McQueen
Best Film Editing - Gravity
Best Adapted Screenplay - Philomena
Best Original Screenplay - American Hustle
